K-12 education funding that will do more than maintain the status quo
In 2009 the legislature followed through on year two of the three-year funding plan for K-12 education. This plan was established by the Joint Legislative Education Funding Task Force in August 2007. K-12 education funding is now almost $1.12 billion. (more...)

2009-2010 NEA-Alaska Rural Housing Survey Results
NEA-Alaska believes that serious efforts are needed to provide safe and sanitary housing for teachers in rural communities. Some progress has been made through the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation, the Denali Commission, and efforts in local districts, yet true inequities remain in rural Alaska. The lack of adequate housing is one of the key factors in high educator turnover in rural school districts. (more...)
