Iditarod musher Hugh Neff—and his dogs—meet the Cat in the Hat
For lead dogs Annie and Watson, it wasn't exactly love at first sight. But the dogs showed great patience as they were dressed in their own Cat in the Hat costumes-then great restraint by not barking and growling at the life size Cat in the Hat, even when the Cat read to them from the beloved Dr. Seuss children's book.
For NEA-Alaska's first statewide Read Across Alaska celebration, we've hooked up with Iditarod musher Hugh Neff from Tok, who's a frequent visitor in classrooms and is excited to help promote and celebrate the fun of reading. Hugh will carry the Cat in the Hat book across Alaska in his sled. Once he crosses the finish line in Nome, he will deliver the book to the children of Nome.
