Student Multi-Media Contest

Purpose:

A contest for Alaskan public school students to share their perspectives on how school positively impacts their lives. Students may submit one entry (either a poster, photograph or video) that depicts how their public school has inspired or motivated them academically, socially and/or emotionally.

Categories:

The contest will have three categories:
• K-4th grade
• 5th-8th grades
• 9th-12th grades
A winner in each of the categories will be determined. Each winner will receive a Barnes & Noble NOOK.

Poster Submissions

A poster may be submitted either electronically or via mail by December 23, 2013. Students should depict how public schools have positively impacted their lives.

Guidelines:

  • No larger than 11" x 17" or smaller than 8.5" x 11"
  • Created with colors, color pencils or markers - no clip art or electronic artwork.

 

Photography

Entries must be composed of original, authentic, unpublished material and must be the sole property of the entrant and depict how public schools have positively impacted the entrant's life.

Guidelines:

  • Submitted electronically as a JPEG, TIFF or GIF file.
  • Electronic files must be at least 300 dpi (or 1500 x 1500 pixels).

 

Video

Entries must be composed of original, authentic, unpublished material and must be the sole property of the entrant. The video must depict how public schools have positively impacted the entrant's life.

Guidelines:

  • The video should be no longer than 5 minutes in length.
  • The video should be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, or School Tube and a link emailed.

Email your poster, photograph or video link to info@neaalaska.org. Subject line should read: Student Contest.

Deadline

All submissions must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, December 23. Winners will be notified no later than January 30, 2014.

Judging

Submissions will be judged by a panel on creativity and relevance to and incorporation of the topic.

All entries must include on a separate piece of paper the following:

First and last name
Address (street, city, zip code)
Telephone number
Email address
Name of school and grade
A brief description explaining your entry.
